As an instructor, I particularly enjoy helping students access the ways in which literature, writing, and literacy are meaningful to them.
I have experience working with diverse student populations that include English-language learners, students with special needs, and students numerous years behind grade level, which means I have an appreciation for instilling the basics that many students beginning their colleges studies require. My experience as a high school teacher and private tutor helped me refine research-based teaching practices that particularly support struggling students in catching up and then excelling.
My work as an editor informs my writing and scholarship as well as my ability to teach research, critical reading, literacy, and writing practices that will prepare students for their paths outside my classroom-- whatever field they eventually enter.
